Commemorative Information

Cemetery: WOODSTON CEMETERY, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom.
Grave Reference/Panel Number: Sec. 7. Joint grave 59.
Location: New Road, Woodston, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
Historical Information: The cemetery, which covers one acre, was formed in 1883 and contains a mortuary chapel. The chapel is almost derelict due to graffiti etc., but is still locked up. The cemetery itself suffers from vandalism unfortunately and a number of gravestones have been broken. Most of the graves are for private citizens from the area, but there are 14 Military graves from both World Wars, a couple of them are private headstones, not the usual CWGC stones. Incidentally, the first Peterborough boy to be killed in World War Two is buried here also, Boy Herbert Michael Bradley who was killed on HMS Southampton on October 16th 1939 during an air raid on the Firth of Forth, he was only 17 years old.  (More Information)
